When water control is part of an aerospace system, I know that an ordinary valve is often not enough. The valve must work as part of a complete fluid control system, respond accurately to electrical signals, maintain reliable sealing, and keep stable performance under demanding working conditions. The working idea behind a solenoid valve is quite straightforward. I use an electrical signal to control the movement of an internal valve element. This allows a control system to manage the flow of water without needing a person to manually turn a valve.
